25th May 2011LYME REGIS: Bikers from all over Europe visit Lyme
VINTAGE motor bike enthusaists from all over Europe converged on Lyme Regis last week to receive a warm welcome from town crier Phil Street.
The outing to Lyme Regis was organised by the Dorset section of The Vintage Motorcycle Club.
The club, which has 16,000 members, was formed in 1946 with the Dorset section starting in 1966. With about 45 regular attendees, the Dorset section organises monthly rides to various venues in the county. The trip to Lyme was part of the annual Weymouth Week with the Dorset members being joined by enthusiasts from Holland, Belgium and Germany.
All the bikes that visited Lyme were 25 years or older and won admiring glances from those who took a stroll along Gun Cliff Walk when the bikes were parked.
Town crier Philip Street officially greeted the bikers and then made a couple of appropriate cries in the town.
