12th May 2011DORCHESTER: Stitching a bit of history
The Dorchester Stitchers, an incredibly talented and hard working group of ladies from the county town, have embarked on their latest project, a pair of wall hangings to be placed in the Corn Exchange on either side of the magnificent window behind the newly installed lift.
Work is now beginning on the second set of panels for these wall hangings, and this is where you can all lend a hand.
The Dorchester Stitchers are inviting people to help them create a very special wall hanging based on Jurassic Dorset in the 21st century.
Workshops will be held in the United Church Hall in South Street on Friday, May 27th from 12noon until 4pm, and again on Saturday, May 28th from 10am until 4pm.
You can stay for as long as you wish and turn your hand to any activity that takes your fancy.
All ages are welcome, and no experience is necessary.
The workshop will involve painting, stitching, felting, cutting out and sticking.
Images created will form part of a variety of scenes including an Olympic seascape, a Dorset landscape, rural farmland Dorset, and a beach scene.
Work packs will be available for you to use, and the Dorchester Stitchers will be on hand to help, guide and encourage everyone to produce an amazing piece of community art.
