LYME REGIS: New town map unveiled

A NEW town map was unveiled by the Mayor of Lyme Regis, Councillor Michaela Ellis, on Marine Parade.

The map, designed by top illustrator and animator Keith Robinson, cost the council £3,000 and took almost two years planning by the Tourism and Advertising Sub-Committee.

It was unveiled on Saturday morning on the wall under Bell Cliff, at the eastern entrance to Marine Parade, and replaces the old map, which was rotten.

Chairman of the sub-committee, Councillor David Cozens, said: “When we decided to refurbish the town map, we said it should not just be to inform, it should also entertain, and that is exactly what this does.

“We interviewed several worthy artists but it was unanimously decided to choose Keith. He has gone above and beyond.”

The Mayor added that it was a pleasure to unveil the new map and thanked the Tourism and Advertising Sub-Committee for their work.

The artistic map includes lots of small and comical details that entertained all at the official unveiling. It will be released as a postcard and a poster, available from the Tourist Information Centre.
