6th August 2009FOOTBALL: LA LADIES SEE OFF FENNY
By Howard Larcombe
THE LA Ladies made a welcome return to the Davey Fort and recorded a fine 5-3 win over Feniton.
THE amalgamated Lyme Regis and Axminster Ladies football team, The LA Ladies, look well set to continue the promising start made last year in their debut season in the Devon Womens League.
The team, which boasted the best defence conceding just 18 goals in 12 games, finished a very creditable third behind Champions Totnes & Dartington Reserves and runners-up Tavistock.
This performance may well result in promotion in the league decide to adjust the size of their divisions, a decision is due to be made by the Devon FA later this month.
The girls, managed by Lyme Regis first teamer Luke Clifton, played their first pre-season game at Lyme Regis’ Davey Fort on Sunday and came away with a fine 5-2 victory.
Amber Clarke, who netted 30 times last season, scored twice and there were singles for Gilly Linnane, Carly Perrin and Jenny Bell.
