THOUSANDS of people turned up for this year’s annual Portland show, making it another resounding success.
The 11th annual steam and vintage show also saw exhibitor numbers up from last year, making it one of the biggest family friendly events in the borough’s calendar.
This year the usual mix of vehicles, steam engines, stalls and children’s activities descended on Southwell Park making the event a real treat for everyone from 0 to 99 years-old.
Organiser Mike Mulley said: “A few exhibitors didn’t turn up because of the weather but we are nearly at 100 per cent.
“It’s been great, it’s a year’s hard work, but it keeps me going, when I go into the beer tent on a Friday and see everyone having a good time then I’m happy.
“People I’ve spoken to have been very positive; we now have a reputation as being a great, family friendly show aimed at everybody.”
This year organisers also decided all money raised should be split between a number of charities in the area, and although organisers would not disclose amounts the event has raised over £32,000 in the last 10 years.
