Creatures from the deep invade the streets

CREATURES, crustaceans and fish wiggled their way through Weymouth at the weekend to complete one of the most the visually spectacular highlights of the town’s calendar.

Pupils from Weymouth and Portland primary schools took part in the Moving Tides Children’s Carnival Procession event, which forms part of the Spirit of the Sea Festival.

Around 120 children  spent the week making their costumes based on the theme of the sea monster Veasta at Weymouth College before taking to the streets.

Excited young people mustered at Greenhill and walked to the Jubilee Clock where the official procession began.

Police closed roads in the area and the procession wound its colourful way along the Esplanade and around to the Pavilion to the delight of hundreds of onlookers.
