Lyme Matters A year in the life of Lyme Regis A new book by local journalist PHILIP EVANS LYME REGIS is one of the most popular small seaside resorts in the UK, nestling between the cliffs on the borders of Dorset and Devon, right in the middle of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site. A national survey included Lyme in the top-ten must-see places in the UK with its quaint streets, recently refurbished beach and seafront, historic Cobb harbour and glorious views over Lyme Bay. The town has a colourful history, a fiercely independent nature and close community spirit. The year 2007 was not a momentous one for Lyme Regis - few years are - but Lyme Matters provides a unique insight into a year in the life of a small, seaside town, as seen through the columns of local newspaper editor PHILIP EVANS. It chronicles the achievements of the people of Lyme Regis and its many differing interests, the petty politicking so prevalent in all small communities and the sheer joy in living in such a beautiful part of the world. With the book comes a free CD which includes excerpts of interviews with dignitaries and characters broadcast on the town¹s internet radio station, Lyme Regis Radio. |
