Compassionate Dorset will be holding a “Compassionate Christmas” stall in South Street, Dorchester on Saturday, November 27th where they’ll be showing local people how to shop for high welfare meat and dairy and offering free Good Food Shopping Guides and meat-free Christmas recipes.
This is just one of many events the charity are hosting in the lead up to Christmas.
A shocking 80 per cent of meat and dairy products consumed over Christmas will have been intensively farmed.
Compassionate Dorset is the local supporter group for Compassion in World Farming who campaign peacefully to end factory farming. The group are also celebrating their first birthday.
As well as raising awareness for animal welfare, the group have ben taking part in “Bake with Compassion” week, where they held a number of events and fundraisers.
Compassionate Dorset Co-ordinator Anna Celeste Watson said: “As well as raising awareness for farm animal welfare and empowering consumers to make more compassionate choices when buying food, so far our group’s Bake With Compassion efforts have raised over £150 for Compassion in World Farming and still counting, so I’d like to thank all our members for their hard work, and the people of Dorchester for supporting our vegan cake sale.”
