2nd September 2010WEYMOUTH: Witnesses sought
A WOMAN was allegedly grabbed by a man in what police believe was a domestic assault near Asda supermarket in Weymouth.
The incident in Newstead Road on Saturday, August 14th at about 9.55am involved a 48-year-old Weymouth woman. She was uninjured.
Police said that a 49-year-old Weymouth man was arrested and has been released on bail while inquiries continue.
Investigations Officer Sue Graham, of Weymouth Police, said: “I understand that a number of people were around at the time of this incidnt and it’s possible that they may have seen what happened.
“In particular, I believe that a woman, possibly aged in her forties, stopped her car as she was driving out of the nearby Asda store.
“This woman left her vehicle and talked to the man and woman involved before getting back into her car and driving off.
“It’s also understood that a First Choice bus stopped at a nearby bus stop. Again, it’s entirely possible that the passengers and driver may be able to help me to find out exactly what happened.
“I would urge anyone who witnessed this incident to contact me – in confidence – as soon as possible.”
Witnesses and anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01305-222222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800-555111.
