2nd September 2010WEST DORSET: Young chef wins chance to cook with professionals at Dorset County Show
KEEN young chef, Scott Andrews from Bridport, has won the chance to cook alongside Mat Follas and Russell Brown at the Dorset County Show on September 5th.
Scott, 21, from Norman Close, impressed judges with his enthusiasm and his recipe for white chocolate and raspberry profiteroles.
“I’d like to learn the finer arts of catering and the different techniques so that I can build on my skills,” Scott said.
Currently working as a chef for the National Trust at Montacute House, Scott gained an NVQ3 in professional cookery at Yeovil College. His hard working and creative approach at college won him an award for the best food preparation and cooking student of the year.
At the Dorset County Show on September 5th, Mat and Russell will go head to head in a celebrity chef cook-off, each vying to wow the crowd with their individual take on a variety of dishes.
As sous chef, View competition winner Scott will help each chef to prepare his dish, picking up masses of inspiration along the way.
Mat Follas has quickly established his reputation as one of our most talented chefs, having won Masterchef in 2009. Mat specialises in using wild produce and local seasonal ingredients. Russell Brown recently won a Michelin star for his seasonally inspired cuisine, characterised by his use of the finest available ingredients.
Dorset County Show takes place on Saturday, September 4th and Sunday 5th just outside Dorchester. It’s a great day out for all the family – children go free.
