1st September 2010DORCHESTER: House fire
A HOUSE in Plush, near Dorchester was partially destroyed in a fire thought to have been caused by an electrical fault.
Over 40 firefighters tackled the blaze, which destroyed the first floor bedroom and ground floor room.
Crews used 15 sets of breathing apparatus to tackle the blaze, which took six fire engines plus support vehicles almost two hours to bring under control.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to this incident at 3.40pm and were assisted by crews from Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue.
Crews used two hose reel jets and one main line to tackle a fire on both the first and second floors of the property.
A fire service spokesman said: “We do not believe anyone is involved in this fire. We believe the cause was an electrical fault, although we are unable to be more specific at this stage and cannot say what exactly caused the fire.”
The house’s bathroom was saved but the first floor stair case suffered from smoke damage.
