FOLlOWING on from top musical tributes Whole Lotta Led and Limehouse Lizzy, the Joni Mitchell Project come to Lyme Regis’ Woodmead Halls to perform the songs of the legendary Canadian singer/songwriter.
In this wonderful homage Sally Barker has captured the essence of one of the great singer/songwriters of a generation.
Be it the classic Big Yellow Taxi or California she aims to achieve the same distinctive sound that has made Joni Mitchell such a popular and enigmatic figure on the music scene.
The JMP was a cherished dream for Sally whose long solo career saw her voice frequently compared to the Canadian. But the Joni Mitchell Project is much more than simply a tribute for Sally Barker breathes new life into the classics.
She is joined by multi-instrumentalist Glen Hughes who is capable of breathing new life into some of the greatest songs ever written.
Sally Barker is perhaps better known to many folk fans as the original lead singer of The Poozies described as the "UK's finest all-female outfit" and "Britain's premiere Celtic roots all-woman supergroup".
During her career she has opened for both Bob Dylan and Robert Plant in Germany.
She has also appeared on the Show of Hands album Live at the Royal Albert Hall. In 1994 she recorded the song 'I Misunderstood' for the CD The World Is A Wonderful Place: The Songs Of Richard Thompson. Barker also provided vocals for the 1997 Pete Morton CD "Courage, Love and Grace" and the 1998 Janet Russell CD "Gathering the Fragments".
Tickets for the Joni Mitchell Project, with support from Issigonis at the Woodmead Hall cost £12 in advance or £14 at the door.
