28th July 2010DORCHESTER: Alistair gets a soaking at fun day fundraiser
THE Victoria Hotel in Dorchester held a fun day to raise funds for two sporting causes at their popular local pub.
Dorchester Amateur Boxing Club is frantically raising money for their “Build Fund” to provide the town’s young boxers with a purpose built gym. And football talent Amber Guy-Kemp, who spent last season at Chelsea Ladies’ Football Academy, is hoping to raise the sum of £3,500 so she can return for another year.
The day started with a fun run, before Town Crier Alistair Chisholm was placed in the stocks at the mercy of some very wet sponges thrown by some very enthusiastic bystanders.
A tombola and an over 18’s tombola joined a homemade cake stall and a “Guess the Weight of the Cake” competition to help bring in the money.
Live music continued throughout the afternoon, and an auction of lots included such items as a season ticket to Dorchester Town Football Club, a signed Tony Adams autobiography and afternoon tea at the Summer Lodge in Evershot.
Landlord and landlady Alan and Renee Freeborn generously supported the event, as they have done with so many events in the past.
If anyone can help with the sponsorship of local footballing talent Amber Guy-Kemp, please contact Simon Guy on 07824 663239.
