28th July 2010DORCHESTER: The great fire reaches Damers
Damers First School gave their very own interpretation of the “Great Fire of London”, as children from year two performed in front of their parents in their end of term production.
With the play opening in the baker’s shop where the fire began, the children took their audience on an intriguing journey from beginning to end, a story well thought out and wonderfully depicted.
There was everything from dancing flames to a town crier, a boatman carrying people to safety across the Thames, and a visit by King Charles to the burning city.
Some wonderful graphics of houses aflame had been created by the children and made a lovely backdrop to the action on stage.
As with all productions at Damers, the singing was simply brilliant and the children more than confident.
They came together to tell one of history’s most famous stories and did so very well.
Every child in year two took part and did the school proud.
And with the fire safely out, the applause of watching parents said it all.
