28th July 2010DORCHESTER: New bench for gardens
by Anita Harries
A brand new picnic table is now firmly in place in the Borough Gardens, situated alongside the Oasis refreshment kiosk.
The Friends of the Borough Gardens came up with the idea, and part funded the purchase of the bench with one of their members, Dr John Travell, Dorchester Moose, and Dorchester Town Council.
With installation by the town council complete, the Mayor of Dorchester, Councillor Leslie Phillips, joined the funders in a cup of tea to well and truly christen the latest addition to Dorchester’s glorious Gardens.
Lorna Low, secretary of the Friends of the Borough Gardens, said: “We are so pleased that the table is in place ready for the summer holidays.
“It is very sturdy and already proving very popular. We are especially pleased that John Travell and Dorchester Moose have contributed towards the cost. This shows real community spirit and support for the Borough Gardens and its friends.”
