28th July 2010DORCHESTER: Cash boost for refuge
Thanks to a flower festival held at Athelhampton House, Dorchester, the West Dorset Women’s Refuge has received a £1,000 boost to its funds.
The theme of the 2010 flower festival was “The Butcher, the Baker, the Candlestick Maker”, and was staged by Owermoigne Flower Club.
Each of the arrangers based their exhibits on a trade or profession which held a special meaning to them.
A great deal of skill and imagination brought to life a whole range of jobs both past and present, including civil engineers, thatchers, grooms and teachers.
As in previous years, a collection was made for a local charity. This year it was the West Dorset Women’s Refuge.
Mollie Rennie, Chair of the Refuge, paid a visit to Athelhampton to collect a cheque for £1,000 from owner Patrick Cooke and Carrie Diamond, Chairman of Owermoigne Flower Club.
