21st July 2010DORCHESTER: Memories come alive thanks for Age Concern calendar
Dorset’s Living Memories is a project created by Age Concern Dorchester which has produced an on-line archive of the county from the memories of people who spent their childhood, working lives and retirement in Dorset.
This spans a period of 100 years from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day, and has been a huge success.
So good are many of the photographs contained within this archive, the decision was taken to create a calendar for 2011 using 13 of the pictures from the website.
These have all come together with stunning effect, and everyone at Age Concern is more than pleased with the results.
Choosing the photographs was no easy task as many were of such a high standard, but choose them they did, and the finished article is now on sale.
Rowan Cottage regular Joyce Ray was tickled pink when one of her pictures was selected.
She said: “It’s all very exciting. Who’d have thought I’d be a calendar girl at 87.”
If you are looking for an early Christmas present, or a calendar that is just that little bit different, they are now for sale at Age Concern Dorchester for £4.99.
Numbers are limited as only 200 copies are available.
If you want to see all of the photos and read the fascinating stories that make up Dorset’s Living Memories, visit www.acdorchester.org.uk/memories.
