NEW and old friends met for a cultural weekend as Beaminster’s twinning association visited their Gallic counterparts.
This year was the turn of the town’s residents to visit Saint-James in Normandy, France to experience all that the county’s traditions and lifestyle has to offer.
This year saw the group visit the market town of Rennes, stay with host families and take in a performance by Les Triolettes group of folk dancers in traditional Normandy costume.
Maureen Wooton, who was on her first anglo-french twinning trip said: “It was very good, the sort of thing that you make quite good lasting friendships but it was also a means to get to know the people from Beaminster.”
Beaminster twinned with Saint-James in 1978.
The visiting party were greeted in Saint-James Mairie with nibbles, local cider and champagne and brief welcome speeches.
New members of the Beaminster and District Twinning Association are always welcome.
