A BEAMINSTER schoolboy is celebrating his success at a national cookery competition last week.
Rex Fisher, 12, impressed judges with his knowledge of seafood and his creative menu as he cooked his way into third place of CookIt! 2010.
The national children’s cookery competition is run by the Guild of Food Writers and supported by Gold Top milk. The young cook beat five other talented youngsters for third place at the final Cook Off which took place in London on Thursday of last week.
The panel of expert judges, including TV chefs Stefan Gates and Valentine Warner, were blown away by Rex’s menu of Poached Mackerel Pockets followed by Cinnamon Porridge and Ice Cream with Honey.
Delighted with his success, Rex said; “I had a great time cooking my recipes and it was a brilliant surprise to have won third place. I can’t wait to tell all my friends.”
