5th May 2010World-class musicians come to Marine Theatre
Bringing together diverse and unique individual talents, four extraordinary world-class musicians come together in the band `Eclectica` for an evening which will range across tangos from Argentina, sambas from Brazil, standards from North America and may throw in Joni Mitchell and Stevie Wonder alongside Rimsky-Korsakov!
Violinist and vocalist Lizzie Ball has worked recently with Simply Red, Kanye West, Enya, Nigel Kennedy, Ben Folds, Buena Vista Social Club, Meatloaf, and many jazz legends such as Gilad Atzmon, Guy Barker, Sir John Dankworth, and has recorded music for films for Michael Nyman, and John Williams.
Cellist Bernard Gregor-Smith was a founding member of The Lindsay String Quartet, for many people the leading string quartet in the world for some years, before taking up the challenge of exploring new musical worlds with `Eclectica`.
The Anglo-Argentinian guitar duo of Pete Oxley and Luis D`Agostino, regarded as exceptional in the world of jazz guitar and committed to breaking down musical barriers, make up this exciting foursome which has sold out Ronnie Scott’s, Dartington Arts and The Oxford Jazz Festival.
The evening, at The Marine Theatre on Saturday, May 8th., begins at 7.15 with a free glass of wine and nibbles, with Eclectica on stage at 7.45pm. Tickets are £15 and are available from the Tourist Information Office (01297 442138) online at www.marinetheatre.com or on the door.
