5th May 2010DORCHESTER: Male choir searches for more members
THE Casterbridge Male Voice Choir was founded in 1941 by off duty firewatchers who got together to sing after their shifts had finished. Its aim and purpose was, and still is, to aid local charities, churches and other worthy causes, and has raised thousands of pounds over the years.
Today, the members of the choir come from a wide range of backgrounds, from many trades and professions, all of whom share a love of singing.
They have a repertoire as varied as their backgrounds, including grand opera, spirituals, songs from the shows and modern songs and
they have performed all over the wrld.
The Casterbridge Male Voice Choir are holding an open evening and singing workshop on 26th May, 7.15pm, in St Mary’s Church Hall, Dorchester.
All men are invited to go along and listen or join in the singing, and are more than welcome to bring their friends and partners. Refreshments will be available.
The choir are a great bunch of people who love singing, know how to have fun, and will continue with their commitment to raise money for charities around Dorset.
