WEYMOUTH: Let's go fly a kite

AERIAL antics were the order of the day as kites went up, up and away above Weymouth Sands.

The resort is preparing to host ist 20th International Kite Festival this Saturday, Sunday and Monday, May 1st-May 3rd.

Among those checking out the beach breezes were Annabel Milverton and Willow Wilkinson from Weymouth College.

Annabel said: “It was my first time flying a kite and it was great fun.”

Willow said: “I really enjoyed the kite flying today. It was a different experience.”

Weymouth and Portland events manager Steve Davies said: “More than 20,000 people are expected to enjoy the three days of the festival.

“We have entrants coming from as far afield as America, Germany, France and Spain as well as a large contingent of kite flyers representing clubs from all over this country.”

Among top attractions will be displays of synchronised stunt kites, fighting kites and giant sky sculptures including an enormous whale and a dinosaur.
