7th April 2010WEYMOUTH: Dog rescue raises £200
DOG LOVERS in Weymouth raised £200 during a table-top sale to raise funds for a dog rescue home.
Members and supporters of Rushton Dog Rescue met in Wyke Regis to raise the money, which will go toward giving treatment for a number of dogs in their care.
Foundered by Cindi McNeil-Regan two and half years ago the rescue home gives shelter and care to dogs throughout the borough and as far a field as Wales.
Mrs McNeil-Regan said: “I’ve been doing this for two and half years and have rescued over 260 dogs.
“We mainly collect dogs in Weymouth and Dorchester but we go further afield if I need to; if the dogs aren’t in a pleasant place then I will bring them down here and give them a decent life.”
The home is hoping to become a registered charity by the summer, which will allow them to apply for different types of funding, including the lottery.
Mrs McNeil-Regan said she was hoping to be able to build a rescue centre in the future.
