11th March 2010HORTON: Elvis night benefits cancer equipment
HORTON Millennium committee presented a cheque for £350 to SURE (Somerset Unit for Radiotherapy Equipment), which were proceeds from the raffle at an Elvis night held in the village hall.
Roy Hole from SURE came to the Five Dials, Horton for the presentation, and received the cheque from committee member Jan Allen, who had recently undergone radiotherapy treatment at the Beacon Centre, Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton.
Mr Hole outlined the work, and the fundraising that the group have undertaken.
The Beacon Centre was opened last May but officially opened on Wednesday by His Royal Highness the Duke of Gloucester.
The Horton MM committee decided to donate the proceeds to SURE, as it is a charity close to their hearts.
