11th March 2010ILMINSTER: Good causes benefit from carnival funds
MANY local charities and organisations benefitted from the total pot of money raised by last November’s Ilminster Carnival.
Representatives of the recipient groups gathered with the carnival committee for a presentation evening at the Shrubbery Hotel on Friday, January 15th.
Ilminster carnival Princess Keira Bird and committee chairman Kym Toms presented various charities and organisations with cheques totalling the grand sum of £3,500.
The main beneficiary was the Special Care Baby Unit at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton. Others included: St John Ambulance, Vaughan Lee House, Ferne Animal Sanctuary,1st Ilminster Cub Scouts,1st Ilton & Broadway Scouts, Ilminster Guides and Brownies, Ilminster Swimming Club, Ilminster Lions, the Rotary Club of Ilminster, Cygnets Pre-School, Ilminster, St Marys Pre-School, Barrington, and the Alive drama group.
The 2009 grand procession attracted a good crowd and the standard of entries was very high. llminster Carnival Committee would like to say a very big thank you to everyone who supported the event and made the presentation of funds possible.
