BRIDPORT SUPERLEAGUE DARTS: Bournemouth pounce on dismal displayIT WAS another disappointing night for the Bridport darts team with the ladies going down 3-6 to their Bournemouth counterparts, and the men on the end of a 10-2 thrashing. The ladies lost the opening two pairs matches before Sonia Cook and Elaine Ingram pulled one back. However the job got tougher with Bournemouth taking the first two singles leaving Bridport having to win all the four remaining matches to grab a victory. A Lady-of-the-Match performance from Jo Knight with a 3-1 win and 13.96 average gave them hope, but unfortunately both Sally James and Elaine Ingram lost, although Sonia Cook did manage to get her first win of the campaign to leave the final score a more respectable 3-6. The men’s season continues to get tougher and tougher with another big loss. The usual start for Bridport was maintained in the pairs with all four losing, leaving a big ask in the remaining singles. Close defeats for Tony Brown, Nigel Druce and Ben Grainger left Bridport 0-10 down. With only pride to play for Mark Munro and stand in Skipper Derek Collins produced some good datrs. A good win for Munro and then a Man-of-the-Match performance from Collins restored a modicum of respectability and a final result of 2-10. The teams have a tough trip to Weymouth on Saturday with both looking for much needed points; the ladies pushing for a top three finish, the men to avoid a bottom three spot.A Bus leaves Axminster 6pm, Chideock 6.15pm and Bridport 6.30pm.
