11th March 2010Not just a Yes man
FOR nearly 40 years, Steve Howe has been at the forefront of rock music as a model and inspiration for other guitarists and musicians, perhaps best known as a member of the progressive rock group 'Yes' and latterly in the reformed 'Asia'.
The Steve Howe Trio, with son Dylan Howe - rightly acclaimed as one of the best drummers of his generation - and keyboard maestro Ross Stanley on Hammond organ, is in marked contrast to his previous work and a truly masterful combination.
Drawing on their love of jazz, blues and country the ‘Steve Howe Trio’ create a friendly tension between Steve Howe compositions, Yes hits and the hard bop jazz of Dylan Howe and Ross Stanley.
They'll be playing music from Kenny Burrell, Jimmy Smith and Roland Kirk as well as new arrangements of Steve's original compositions and specially selected Yes classics.
The A-Z of Rock Guitarists crowned Howe ‘the thinking man’s guitar hero’ whilst Frank Zappa praised Howe ‘I really like the guitar solo on ‘Claramount Lake’ it’s terrific’
The Steve Howe Trio will be performing at the Electric Palace on Sunday 21st March at 7.30pm. Tickets are £12 for members / £15 standard tickets and can be purchased from the Electric Palace Box Office on 01308 428354.
