11th March 2010WEYMOUTH: Taking a chance at the library
THERE was a bit of mystery for readers to sample when they visited Dorset libraries celebrating World Book Day.
Sites across the county including libraries at Weymouth, Bridport and Dorchester celebrated the written word by running a lucky dip style promotion.
Library visitors were challenged to take a chance and choose a white envelope containing an unknown book.
Inside could be anything from adventure, family stories and romantic fiction to crime, thrillers, science fiction or popular non-fiction.
Weymouth Library assistant Margaret Young said: “The Take a Chance promotion offered a book hidden in a white envelope which could be anything from romance to a thriller.
“It certainly intrigued people and several envelopes were taken. It didn’t cost anything and people could bring them back if they opened the envelope, found they didn’t like the book and wanted something different.
“The event has also been a good way of drawing attention to other library services we have available.”
