10th March 2010WEYMOUTH: Go ahead for industrial units
PLANNERS have backed detailed aspects of a scheme to build 16 industrial units at Osprey Quay, Portland.
The development already had outline planning permission and a meeting of Weymouth and Portland planning committee added backing for details including landscaping, appearance, layout and scale.
Applicant Barry Jones told councillors that the development would create or ensure the retention of 60 jobs.
He said that there had already been “significant occupier interest” in 13 out of the 16 units.
Councillor Geoff Petherick said he backed the development. It would be part of the Olympic 2012 legacy, he said, and added that it was “very encouraging” that 13 out 16 units had already been reserved because it backed up the council’s economic and tourism development strategy.
