POTATO planting was on the menu for a project at Chapelhay Community Playgarden, Weymouth.
The main crop King Edwards were being planted under the Let’s Grow scheme to benefit children.
Playgarden chairman Clare Sutton explained: “It encourages local children to grow vegetables and learn where food comes from.
“At the end of the summer we will harvest everything and it will be turned in to vegetable burgers and chips for a special meal.”
Potatoes were not the only thing being planted and other areas of interest included tomato, cucumber, corgette and sunflower seeds.
Councillor Roger Allen, whose Weymouth East ward includes the playgarden said: “It is a nice community event and I have really enjoyed being involved with it.
“The playgarden is a positive influence to help transform the whole area.”
