10th March 2010WEYMOUTH: Students' respect campaign launched
YOUNG people are not as badly behaved as many people think. That was the message from Weymouth College students whose new Respect campaign was launched last week.
Students were keen to improve what they said was the false impression many people had that young people were just trouble.
Student Union president Nathan Duncan said: “Students have a big impact on the college but they also have a big impact on the community.
“So we are wearing ‘Respect’ badges on and off campus to show that we respect other people while asking that they respect us.”
Union officials distributed badges and leaflets and they are also visited tutorials to put their message across.
Nathan said: “Our aim is to eventually get as many students as possible wearing a Respect badge so our message travels out to as wide an area as possible.
“We hope that by giving respect we will gain it in return.”
