By Paul Crompton
MOTORISTS are being warned to keep their valuables safe and out of sight of opportunist thieves when they visit Beaminster’s beauty spots.
Residents in the area’s many beauty spots are being warned to hide all valuables if they leave their motor vehicles unattended.
Police have issued the warning as the season where people leave their cars to walk the dog, picnic, or enjoy the views approaches.
The reminder reiterates last year’s message - it only takes a thief seconds to smash into a vehicle and make a quick getaway, leaving a devastating experience for victims.
Beaminster PCSO Alex Bishop said: “We advise that if anybody is going to one of the numerous beauty spots in this area, please do not take any personal belongings.
“If you do need to, for example take a mobile phone, do not leave anything in the vehicle. This includes ‘hiding’ things in the boot or glove compartment, or even under clothing.”
Motorists are warned possessions such as sat navs, mobile phones, purses and even small loose change and clothing are all targets for offenders.
