24th February 2010Music festival tickets on sale soon
THE Burton Bradstock Music Festival launches with a jazz concert on August 16th, the start of a week of concerts, recitals, a young musicians’ workshop and a barn dance.
Tickets go on sale on May 6th in the Reading Room, Burton Bradstock.
Heralding the popular week-long festival, a one-off concert in the church on May 7th will feature the festival’s musical director David Juritz, leader of the London Mozart Players.
Tickets for this event go on sale on April 5th from Gill Redford (01308 897203) or from the post office in the village.
The Burton Bradstock Music Festival is unique in combining exquisite musicianship and unprecedented informality.
The musicians stay with villagers and there is a most friendly atmosphere as top-flight performers and helpers all join together in the numerous tasks involved in staging the many activities scheduled.
This year’s festival will welcome many regulars including guitarist Craig Ogden, accordionist Milos Milivojevic and cellist Adrian Bradbury.
Said festival director Mike Southgate: “The generosity of both the musicians and the villagers involved in putting on this extraordinary show is a real boon for Burton Bradstock, attracting people from a wide area as well as many summer visitors, some of whom book their holidays down here to coincide with the week. Our fellow villagers are, of course, especially welcome and there is something for everyone including the music workshop for the children.”
