Family history events in West Dorset

2010 looks to continue to be a good year for family historians with the completion of the 1911 Census and many more London records going online.

A new series of Who Do You Think You Are? is planned for the spring and local family historian Jane Ferentzi-Sheppard has been asked to present two talks at the ‘Who do you think you are?’ Live Fair at Olympia February 26th-28th.

Jane says: “I am very excited to be asked to give two talks at Olympia. I’ve been asked to repeat my talk about Dorset resources which I did last year on Friday as well as a new one on the Sunday where I shall also be joining the Society of Genealogists team of experts who offer twenty minute help sessions to visitors. It is a great day out and a chance to see what is going on in the history world, and attend talks by some of the top speakers in the country.”

The National History show is now in its third year and attracts about 13,000 people over the three days. Roy Bremner will be talking about his appearance on the TV programme, and all the large commercial firms will be present as well as the National Archives, many family history societies, a military pavilion and a photography gallery..
