HONITON: Police report crime is down

A REPORT given to Honiton Town Council by local police said crime was down in the town last month.

Police said a total of 58 crimes had been committed, which saw a reduction of nine on the same period last year.

Crimes included 11 assualts, 16 thefts including four shopliftings, three burglaries and six cases of criminal damage.

Police explained that thefts had increased recently due to a number of incidents of fuel theft from the Heathpark Industrial Estate.

Most recently, police reported there had been an assualt on the High Street on Saturday, February 11th, involving several people.

Police advised councillors that the incident was being dealt with by the Criminal Investigation Department and that CCTV from the High Street was being used to identify the offenders and help with the investigation.
