17th February 2012HONITON: Big hearted folk dancers raise £130
Honiton Folk Dance Club showed that dancing was indeed good for the heart when they raised over £130 for the British Heart Foundation.
The special Valentine’s Dance held at Offwell Village Hall was well attended with the group energetically taking to the floor for an evening of fun and romance for the worthy cause.
Around 40 people attended the fundraising event, which saw the hall decked out in red and white to support the Valentine’s theme and to match the British Heart Foundation colours.
The Amycrofters Folk Band put on a show of music alongside Jane Thomas as caller for the evening.
To boost the fundraising evening, the group had a great amount of support from local businesses and organisations who donated prizes for a raffle in aid of the heart charity.
Prizes came from Dilly’s Florist, The Otter Inn, The Hare and Hounds and Tesco as well as donations from club members and the group would like to thank all who helped for their generosity.
Thanks were also expressed to British Heart Foundation supporters from the Honiton Branch - May White and her team, who sold tickets for the raffle.
