3rd February 2012SIDMOUTH: Fundraiser for Jubilee flower festival
Flowers were the main thought for members of St Peter’s Flower Arrangers when they held their first fundraising event for this year’s flower festival.
The first event of the year was a coffee morning held at St Peter’s Church Hall, which was well attended with many coming through the doors to support the group.
The group have set to have a number of fundraising activities this year, to help fund a flower festival in St Peters Church, which will be the first of its kind in Sidford.
The flower festival will be held from June 22nd to 24th and will be in conjunction with the Queen’s Jubilee.
The idea came around when the flower arrangers realised that no other events were to be held in the village and soon became an exciting idea.
So far they have received alot of support with businesses and people in the area having the chance to sponsor arrangements and many have already taken up the offer.
The group have also had a number of donations from local businesses and organisations such as Sidford WI and St Peter’s Church Hall, adding extra support to the event.
The next fundraising event in aid of the festival will be a fundraising lunch at St Peter’s Church Hall on Saturday, February 11th from 12noon until 2pm. Admission will be £2.50 for a bowl of homemade soup and bread, and optional desserts. There will also be a raffle.
Following the lunch, St Peter’s flower arrangers will also be holding regular coffee mornings with the next scheduled events being held at St Peter’s Church Hall on March 3rd and 31st from 10am until noon.
