3rd February 2012SIDMOUTH: Will is off to space camp
A Sidmouth College Student is looking to forward to an exciting trip to the United States after winning his place in a global leadership academy.
Year 12 student Will Oswald will be traveling to the state of Alabama for a seven day trip with Honeywell Leadership Academy, held at the US Space and Rocket Centre, in March.
Will, who is studying biology, chemistry and maths in the sixth form won his place on the course by demonstrating his record of academic excellence and community service performed through his involvement with the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme.
The weeklong leadership development course will be attended by 60 students from around the world and is designed to challenge students to apply themselves as leaders in a series of real world scenarios.
The scenarios will need to involve knowledge from an array of areas from science, and engineering to maths and technology and will push the boundaries of personal and leadership skills.
The course will also introduce students to the legacy of the American Space Programme and concentrate on addressing current issues within the science and technology community, inspiring the students to become tomorrow’s scientific leaders.
Special guests, tours, and activities will focus on bringing the latest developments and challenges in the industry to the students who will face various challenges to explore scenarios and present their solutions to experts in the field.
Staff and friends at Sidmouth College are proud of Will’s success and are looking forward to hearing all about his experience when he returns.
