3rd February 2012CREWKERNE: New fundraising shop
THE newest shop in Crewkerne is about to throw open its doors to bargain-hunters.
The Children’s Society charity shop starts trading this coming Monday on the corner of Church Street and Market Street.
New manager Kate Wells, from Yeovil, said the shop had got off to a flying start even before it opens, as 20 people had already come forward as volunteer sales staff.
“We’re amazed. Twenty volunteers in a week is fantastic!
“We’ve also had lots of donations of items to sell. People have been knocking on the door every day.”
The charity’s regional manager Val Newbold added: “We are getting a really nice community feel in Crewkerne. We’ve had a brilliant response so far.”
She said the shop would be “an Aladdin’s cave” of quality goods at bargain prices.
“It’s the perfect place to hunt for basics and be inspired by unusual pieces.”
Crewkerne Mayor Neil Sturtivant will be doing the opening honours on Monday morning at 10.30am with a little audible help from Town Crier Dave Craner.
