DORCHESTER: Square is 'dangerous'

Town councillor Tim Harries has called for the layout of Queen Mother Square at Poundbury to be sorted out.

He says drivers are confused and pedestrians are being put at risk by the confused layout which, he says, has been a problem since the new Waitrose store opened.

“This is a dangerous square.

“There will be an accident with people zig-zagging about in the traffic,” he said.

Town council clerk, Dennis Holmes, had been instructed in early January to write to both the Duchy of Cornwall and Dorset County Council to try and solve the problem after the issue was raised at the town planning committee.

So far the town council has not had a response from either.
