1st February 2012LYME REGIS: Rotary thanked for tool collection
THE Rotary Club of Lyme Regis has recieved a letter of thanks after holding a tool collection for charity WorkAid in November.
The charity, which delivers the tools to help those in Africa learn skills and become self-supporting, wrote the following letter to the Rotary Club thanking the people of Lyme for their generosity: “A huge range of manual and electrical tools were donated, precisely the kind of tools needed for our work in assisting self-help groups and vocational training projects in East Africa.
“Thanks also to Axminster Tools who organised a parallel collection in several of their outlets across the country and delivery of all the tools to their store in High Wycombe, close to WorkAid’s base in Uxbridge.
“Four pallet loads were collected from there, requiring two van journeys. This was a splendid quantity of tools indicating a magnificent response to the appeal.”
Rotarian John McCallum added: “Thanks also to the Woodmead Halls where we collected the tools in Lyme. This was a great example of how local businesses, council and charitable organisations can work together constructively with significant beneficial results.”
