West Dorset residents who plan to hold a street party for the Diamond Jubilee should apply now to Dorset County Council.
People wanting to hold a street party over the Jubilee weekend must apply to the county council by Friday, April 20th. A minimum of six weeks notice is required for residents who want to hold a street party.
An application form to hold a street party is available by visiting www.dorsetforyou.com/streetparties
West Dorset District Council Leader Cllr Robert Gould said: “It is anticipated that a large number of residents will want to mark this fantastic occasion with a street party.
“I would encourage residents to look at the information on dorset foryou.com to see what procedures are needed to hold a street party and to submit applications with plenty of time to spare.
“The district council has made money available to town and parish councils in West Dorset to help celebrate the Diamond Jubilee on June 2nd and 3rd.”
All applications should be returned to the Road Space Management Team at Dorset County Council. The team can be contacted by emailing roadspacemanagement@dorsetcc.gov.uk or phoning 01305 221853.
In November the district council’s Executive Committee decided to distribute £5,000 from the Leisure Development Fund to help town and parish councils celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee..
