1st February 2012MOSTERTON: Craft club expansion leads to new home
A MEETING of Mosterton crafters will be held in the village hall for the first time today (Wednesday).
Mosterton Crafters group has moved into the hall after its numbers swelled to around 15 people.
Members had been meeting in each others’ homes since craft mad neighbours Carol Foice, Eileen Gibbons and Pat Gill founded the group two-years-ago.
Mrs Foice said: “About two-years-ago we got talking and expressed an interest in all things craft wise, like card making, jewellery, knitting, and embroidery and from this brief chat grew the Mosterton Crafters group.
“We decided it might be an idea that like minded ladies got together every couple of weeks to have a chat and discuss craft skills.
“It’s great fun and we always learn something and enjoy the meetings and it also a good excuse for a good natter and a cup of tea.”
The group have been able to move into the village hall after the Woman’s Institute closed.
Mrs Foice said: “The WI closed which gave us a slot and we thought maybe younger woman would come along who may not have wanted to go to people’s homes.
“The move will enable us to expand to do more craft work and possibly invite other people to show them new craft ideas.”
Although Mosterton Crafters are an informal group they have entered the Melplash Shows Craft Competition over the last two years.
If you would like to learn a new craft or are happy to show others your own particular craft then you can attend Mosterton Crafters next meeting on Wednesday, February 1st in Mosterton Village Hall at 2.30pm.
