Dorchester chef Russell Brown has been praised for his use of local produce by BBC Countryfile presented John Craven.
Sienna, which is the town’s only Michelin starred establishment, featured in an item looking at the veal industry.
John Craven said: “It was a pleasure meeting Russell who is clearly dedicated to using local produce with a strong ethical heritage.
“His excellent use of veal is a positive example for people who are looking for a healthy meat in their diet, with the added bonus of supporting animal welfare in our valuable UK dairy industry.”
The programme investigates the veal industry, looking at improvements in welfare standards in recent years and asking what the future holds for veal production in the UK.
Mr Brown said he enjoyed meeting John Craven and the team: “We have had a lot of of interest in the English Rose Veal on our menu – we have ours supplied locally by Jurassic Coast Meats.
“It was great to meet the BBC team.
“We cooked some veal and John took it out onto the streets of Dorchester for a taste test.”
