25th January 2012BEAMINSTER: Volunteers needed for committee
Report by Keith Foice
Our AGM was held on January 17th in the village hall with Rosemary Seager taking the chair for the last time.
She thanked the committee for their work over the previous years and called for a volunteer to be chair in the future. Unfortunately no one was forthcoming, so Dinah Brazendale agreed to hold the fort with the help of the committee.
Rosemary also asked for new committee members, but again she had no takers.
The treasurer’s report was on the table for members to see, and the bottom line was that the finances are in good order.
Many thanks to our treasurer Barbara Burrough.
David Wills, our President, then spoke to us about the success of the club and the excellent work done by Rosemary Seager, but he also said that this success depended on people volunteering to help keep it going.
He then thanked Rosemary for her work, and called again for a chairperson and new committee members.
Once our business was over we all sat down to a delicious and varied supper supplied by the members and afterwards we were treated to some entertainment by Jed Harris, a local folk singer.
He had a lovely voice and accompanied himself on the guitar, he also played the accordion and played some lively tunes before leading all the members in a rendition of “The Gardeners Hymn”.
The raffle was then drawn, with various prizes, and Eileen Rabbets was announced as the winner over the whole year of our Flower of the Month competition.
The club meets on the third Tuesday of each month in Mosterton Village Hall and new member are always welcome.
Do come and join us and learn some new gardening tricks.
