23rd September 2011SIDMOUTH: Fundraising lunch serves up a tasty £440 for Samaritans
By Laura Goldsbury Noy
Members of Sidmouth’s Samaritans UK Committee held a ploughman’s lunch afternoon at Sidmouth Methodist Church and raised £440.
The group who regularly run fundraising events for the Samaritans charity served homemade ploughman’s lunches, soup, snacks and drinks. There were also stalls selling jewellery, bric-a-brac and books to help raise funds.
The Sidmouth Samaritans committee would like to thank everyone who volunteered to help and those who came along to the lunch afternoon or donated things to sell.
Samaritans is a national charity and provides support for thousands of people every year who may be feeling stressed, in despair, severely unstable emotionally or just need somebody to talk to.
Samaritans provides completely confidential emotional support 24 hours a day by telephone, a personal visit, email, and letters.
